Culture, by definition can be described as the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent.
The term safety culture is used to describe the environment in which safety is thought to exist within the organization as a high priority.
If the culture in a work environment is positive, every employee from management to shift workers will feel valued, understood and have a desire to be productive. There is no project completion date to achieving a healthy culture. Values, communication and integrity will foster an environment of consistent behavior and expectations.
In our upcoming blog series we will explore ways to build a safety culture but, remember without establishing the required processes and structure there is no simple way for an organization to create a high performance safety culture.
